Alfred Daniels was at the forefront of Social Realist and narrative painting in the 1950s; this work, which hasn't been on the market for over a decade, is without doubt his masterpiece, with the kudos of having adorned the cover of The Studio Magazine in July 1957 (the leading art publication of its day). It has been hanging on the wall at my home, and is the one work which is universally admired and commented-upon by visitors. Daniels was a busy and committed artist, continuing to exhibit in many solo and survey shows until his death.
